Wal-Mart recalls General Electric (GE) Coffee Makers for fire hazards

These coffee makers were sold in either white or black and the GE logo is printed on the base of the coffee maker, and the model numbers is printed on the bottom of the base. The model number of the GE coffee makers that have been recalled are 169164 and 169165. These models sold for approximately $30 in Wal-Mart stores between March of 2008 through January 2010. If you have either of the General Electric coffee makers at your home, you are at severe risk of personal injury or property damage. You must take immediate action!


The hazards associated with the General Electric coffee makers are that the product can overheat, posing fire and burn risks. Wal-Mart sold approximately 900,000 of these defective General Electric coffee makers and has already received over 83 reports of overheating, smoking, melting, burning and fire. Such hazards have already led to three unsuspecting consumers to suffer severe burns to their hands, feet and torso. Other reports include significant property damage to the consumers’ kitchens, countertops, cabinets and walls.
